Friendly welcoming staff who went the extra mile. Clean and well appointed rooms. Breakfast was nice, served by friendly staff. Ate at the ground floor carvery for our first lunch after check in and tried the hotel three course evening meal on our last night. All enjoyable and well presented food. Would recommend this hotel to friends and family.

  • Older travelers

The hotel is ideally situated for the shops, seaside and views. We had no complaints about the hotel itself, but thought the waitress Denise was a little brusque in her approach. We got down for breakfast in the nick of time on the first morning and she clearly told us had we been a couple of minutes later, we would have forfeited the breakfast menu for toast and jam!! Thought that was a totally unnecessary and embarrassing remark to make especially in front of other breakfast-dining couples!!

Very comfortable and also friendly staff.

    Nothing here.

This was my first visit to the Crescent Hotel. I had read the reviews and wasn't disappointed. My single room was lovely, sparkling clean and very quiet. The service was excellent and the food outstanding. I have stayed in several hotels in Scarborough over the years, both 4star and 5star but can truthfully say that none have matched the Crescent.

    Can't think of anything....

  • Older travelers

Our first stay was a very pleasant surprise. Lovely spacious comfortable corner 3rd floor room with a great view. Easy parking. Excellent food, very good and fresh selection for breakfast. Perfect setting of the great Victorian style building and a perfect setting to celebrate our romantic wedding anniversary.

  • Older travelers

it is in a very good location very quiet but close for both the town centre shops and a not too far to walk down to the seafront. The room and bathroom were very spacious. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and nothing was too much trouble for the very helpful and friendly staff.Would definatetly stay at 'The Crescent' again.

  • Older travelers

    Comfortable good location

The attitude of one member of staff/management. I have never heard a guest in hotel being asked to move away from the curtains in the bar because the oil in his hair might stain them.

  • Older travelers

Everything! The quiet part of an often noisy town. Well worth its three stars. I presume that to gain more it would have to provide things we did not need, such as bar and safe in room.

  • Older travelers

Lovely hotel in the middle of the city. We were booked into the Stephen Joseph theatre which is 5 minutes walk away. Room was beautiful and clean, spacious and well equipped. As we were going to the theatre chef prepared a salad for our late evening return which was superb and the staff remembered on our return and served it to us very promptly. Parking is a bit of an issue but the hotel staff do help.

  • Older travelers

Excellent hotel with a fine location, very convenient for shops, beach and just a 5 minute stroll from the railway station.Despite it's location the hotel was very quiet set as it is opposite a small park on a side road. The room we had was very good,a balcony overlooked the park and the room was spotless throughout.Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice and was well cooked. We did not eat there in the evening but the hotel has a reputation for fine food (even our taxi driver commented on the food!!).A very good hotel and I would say it even rates higher in some aspects than the three stars it has been given!!!

My girlfriend turned the shower on only to have the handle fall apart!!The bathroom is very modern so it wasn't old age!!Anyway it was fixed quickly and without fuss by the excellent staff!!Apart from that small hiatus there was nothing I disliked about the hotel.

  • Older travelers

Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable room with spacious bathroom. Excellent breakfast. Convenient and pleasant location. Will certainly recommend to others and will stay in this hotel again.

  • Older travelers

Exremely friendly staff with lots of personal attention. Bedroom a good size and always cleaned well. The hotel is situated in quiet location (admittedly we went Monday to Wednesday so it might be different at weekends and other busy times) and is very conveneiently situated for the South Bay and town centre.

  • Group of friends

Superb location - 3 minutes from the railway station and the theatre (our main reason for visiting Scarborough) and yet situated in a peaceful, elegant old street with a park in front. Our rooms were quiet, comfortable and with truly excellent en suite facilities. The breakfast was extensive, well cooked and with superb service. Exceptional value for money.

    All positive.

  • Older travelers

We had a shaky start to our 6 night stay in Room 25 which overlooked the kitchen extractor fan which was very noisy. It was turned off at 10.10pm but went on again at 6.12am the following morning. However, when I pointed this out to the Manager he was able to offer us another room the following day (Sunday) when rooms became vacant. This was very much better, at the front of the hotel overlooking the corner of Crescent Gardens (Room 22). Everything else was fine with a good selection at breakfast and the location was ideal for travelling on public transport as the rail and bus stations were only about 7 minutes walk away.

No there wasn't anything we did not like at the hotel but, if recommending the Crescent would suggest a superior room at the front of the building.

  • Older travelers

We enjoyed our stay. As a female visitor, I appreciated the generous number and positioning of mirrors, lights and sockets in the room (no. 28) which were actually co-ordinated. So often the mirror is on one wall, the light on another and the nearest socket under the bed! As one condemned to use a hair dryer frequently, the Crescent Hotel got it just right.

A small grouse were the number of stairs needed to climb (we were on a mezzanine). However, we wanted to stay amongst Scarborough's Georgian splendour, and this was a small penalty to pay. Though we managed to find a space, the parking was bothersome: not the hotel's fault. Hotels and town council need to agree on a policy which will encourage tourists to come to Scarborough, not deter them.
